Three Sister's Ranch, Mackay, Idaho
Nestled in Idaho’s Big Lost Valley, the Three Sisters Ranch is located in one of the most beautiful and remote landscapes in the world. The majestic Lost River Range is a part of the Rocky Mountains and looms over the ranch in all its glory. The ranch and its quaint cabins are located on the pristine Warm Springs Creek. Just down the street from David’s former ranch, David’s brother, Walter, and his wife, Shelley, own this property. It is an area of Idaho that is particularly special and familiar to the Stoecklein family.
2023 Rocky Mountain Fall-1
Equipment Necessary
We suggest that you bring all the camera equipment you typically shoot with as well as a personal laptop, card reader, and external hard drive to store and/or backup images. We recommend a camera that allows for exposure control. Students do not need to own a wide variety of equipment or lenses for this course. However, being able to experiment with a few focal length options via an interchangeable lens system will aid students in capturing the action as scenarios and scenes change throughout the workshop. The course will cover photography fundamentals and theory, elements that remain consistent regardless of the camera system students use. As we like to say, “It’s the Indian, not the arrow, that gets the shot.”
Activity Level and Weather Considerations
Students should be in good health and feel comfortable walking or standing for extended periods of time. Sturdy boots will be needed. Daily activities may include mild hiking on uneven ground, and shooting photos from the ground on up. Rain is a possibility. Please be prepared and dress accordingly.
Price
The workshop price is $2,000 which includes all meals. A 10% discount is given for returning students. A deposit of $500 is due upon registration. For an additional $250, significant others can join the group for meals only. You may also add on the Lightroom Plus Class which is an extra $450. The Lightroom Plus Class begins Friday morning and will end in the late afternoon. The start time will be announced closer to the workshop date.
